The Thrill of Solo Travel: Why Solo Travel Should Be on Your Bucket List

Traveling is awesome, isn't it? The idea of exploring new places, meeting new people, and having adventures is enough to make anyone's heart skip a beat. And while some folks prefer to travel in groups, others - like me here - are all about that solo travel life. In fact, I'm such a fan of hitting the road solo that I've been called crazy for not bringing any friends along. But you know what? I love it! And there are so many benefits of traveling solo that I just had to write a blog post about it. Also there are some downsides listed below.

The real perk of solo travel is the people you meet. When you're on your own, you're more likely to strike up conversations with locals and other travelers. And who knows? You might just make some lifelong friends. Plus, if you're traveling solo, you don't have to worry about anyone cramping your style or slowing you down. You can go at your own pace and do whatever the heck you want.

And let's not forget about the personal growth that comes with solo travel. When you're in a new place by yourself, you have to rely on your own wits and instincts. You'll learn to be more independent, resourceful, and confident. You might even surprise yourself with how capable you are. Plus, you'll have some killer stories to tell when you get back home.

Last but not least, solo travel is a great way to escape the daily grind and do something just for you. You can indulge in your passions and hobbies without worrying about anyone else's schedule. Want to spend a day exploring a museum or hiking through the woods? Go for it! You'll have no one to answer to but yourself.

So, what do you say? Are you ready to take the plunge and try solo travel for yourself? I say go for it! Who knows - you might just discover a whole new side of yourself and the world.

BUT, BUT, BUT

What should you Consider:

Solo travel can be an amazing experience, but let's be real - it's not all rainbows and unicorns. There are definitely some downsides to hitting the road alone that you should be aware of before you pack your bags. But don't worry, I'm not trying to scare you off! I just want to give you a realistic picture of what solo travel entails. So, without further ado, here are some potential downsides to consider:

First up, we have the big bad L-word: loneliness. When you're traveling solo, you're the only one there to share your experiences with. This can be great when you're exploring a new city or trying a new food, but it can also be pretty darn lonely during those times when you're just hanging out in your hotel room or waiting for a train. You might find yourself talking to the hotel plants just to have someone to chat with.

Tip; To tackle loneliness meet & greet local people. Spend most of the time outside. Use couchsurfing. But ya, it's hard to avoid loneliness while eating in a restaurant or while enjoying street-food. But then, just enjoy being alone, think, and observe the surrounding & their life. You'll find peace.

Another downside of solo travel is safety concerns. Without a buddy by your side, you'll need to be extra vigilant about your surroundings and take precautions to ensure your safety. You don't want to end up lost in a sketchy neighborhood or worse, so be sure to do your research and plan accordingly.

Next up, we have the wallet buster: higher costs. When you're traveling solo, you don't have anyone to split the costs of things like hotel rooms or rental cars with. Plus, some group tours or activities may offer discounts for larger parties, which you won't be able to take advantage of. So, if you're on a tight budget, you might want to consider teaming up with a travel buddy to save some cash. But it's not a deal breaker. You can always use your brain and spend less.

All that said, I don't want to discourage you from solo travel - it can be an incredible experience that's well worth any potential downsides. Just be aware of the challenges and plan accordingly, and I'm sure you'll have an amazing adventure.

    Well Explained. 👏 👏 👏
Though safety concern is a real deal breaker while traveling to a distant country(like Somalia) and It's the main concern in case of a female traveller.
