Solo Travel in Bangladesh 🇧🇩: A Journey Through History, Culture, and Nature

When I decided to take a solo trip to Bangladesh, I didn't quite know what to expect. But from the moment I hopped on the Maitree Express, an international train that connects Kolkata and Dhaka, I knew I was in for an adventure

As I chugged along the countryside, I couldn't help but feel giddy with excitement. I mean, I was on an international train!

And as soon as I arrived in Bangladesh, I was met with warm smiles and friendly locals who were eager to help me navigate my way around the country

And let's talk about the food. Oh my goodness, the food! From the spicy biryani to the sweet mishti doi, I was in culinary heaven. I couldn't resist trying all the different dishes, and even the street food didn't disappoint. The cuisine in Bangladesh was out of this world! Like the spicy curries & the sweet desserts, every meal was a feast for the senses. I tried everything from juicy fruits to savory samosas and the famous biryani - which was absolutely delicious.

My first stop was Dhaka, and I was blown away by the contrast between old and new. The historic district of Old Dhaka was like stepping into a time machine, with narrow streets, colorful buildings, and bustling markets.

But then I ventured into New Dhaka, a modern city with skyscrapers, shopping malls, and restaurants, and I felt like I was in a completely different world. The only negative thing was the traffic congestions that obviously brings pollution.

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting Dhaka University, which is widely regarded as one of the top universities in Bangladesh. As soon as I arrived, I was blown away by the stunning architecture and the sprawling green campus. It was a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll, grab a cup of chai and soak up the atmosphere.

I was lucky enough to meet some of the students there, who were incredibly friendly and eager to show me around. They told me all about the university's history, traditions and culture, and even gave me some insider tips on the best places to eat and hang out nearby.

Thereafter, I headed to Moulavibazar, a charming town in the northeastern part of Bangladesh known for its tea plantations and scenic hills. I felt like I was in a fairytale as I strolled through the lush greenery, sipping on freshly brewed tea and enjoying the slower pace of life.

But the real highlight of my trip was Sylhet. This region is home to the largest tea gardens in the world, and it's not hard to see why. The rolling hills, the vibrant greenery, and the picturesque landscapes were simply breathtaking.

I hiked through national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, soaking in the natural beauty of the area.

And the true delight of my trip was the people I met along the way. I made so many friends in Bangladesh, from the friendly shopkeepers to the welcoming locals who invited me into their homes for chai and conversation. I felt like I had experienced a true slice of Bangladeshi culture, and I left with a deep appreciation for the country and its people.

Looking back on my solo travel adventure in Bangladesh, I can't help but smile. I met wonderful people, ate amazing food, and explored some of the most beautiful places in the country. From the stunning Dhaka University to the mouth-watering food and friendly locals, Bangladesh truly captured my heart.

If you're looking for a unique and exciting travel destination, I highly recommend checking out Bangladesh. Overall, my trip to Bangladesh was an unforgettable adventure that I will cherish for years to come. Trust me, it's an experience you won't forget.

    1. The cost depends upon your activities and the way you execute it. If you are in budget, 10K BDT will be sufficient for 4-7 days trip.

    1. Beauty is not something that we control. Your face only reflects the state of your mind. Being surrounded by something you enjoy or love only brings joy and aura to your face (If you are talking solely about these photos - I can't deny the credit of the cameraman)! Happy travelling!
